Highwater Sails has been at the cutting edge of sail making in the southwest of England since 2015. Our dedicated team of sailors and professional sailmakers pride themselves on delivering high quality, fast and durable sails to all of our customers. Based in Plymouth, a city with a long and proud history in the sport, we work closely with local clubs and sailing groups to help support local events, our entire staff is often found teaching the youth of tomorrow to sail in their spare time. Any visit to our loft will demonstrate exactly how much our team lives and breathes sailing and water sports. Our passion is boats and we are excited by every new project and challenge.
Andy Sinclair – Director and Sailmaker
Growing up in the Solent allowed Andy to start sailing and sailmaking from a young age. From learning all there is to know about boats with his yacht broker Dad and the local yacht surveyor, to then having work experience with Technique Voile in St Malo – which then secured his sailmaking pathway. He followed on to Grant Piggott Sails in Warsash where he learnt the foundations, before honing his skills working full time at North Sails. After completing a degree in 3D Design at Plymouth University, during which he was able to work at Ullman Sails he then set up Highwater Sails. During all this Andy has had many sailing highlights from the ARC Transatlantic Race, to AC45’s in the Youth America’s Cup, Youth and Junior Catamaran National Champion and IRC National Champion to name a few!
Hannah Hayward – Office Manager & Textile Designer
Hannah is our resident magician; as well as running the office she is also on the floor specialising in all things ‘non-sails’. From crew gear to lampshades, bunk cushions to rudder bags Hannah can do it all, and does on a regular basis. Hannah has been sailing for as long as she can remember and knows boats inside and out. She is a bowman on a J24 and a regular safety boat driver for the local dinghy racing and dinghy training programs for young sailors.
